Revision Legal is hiring a paralegal. Specifically, we are looking for an intelligent and self-motivated individual who will provide our attorneys with high quality substantive and procedural legal and administrative work.
Revision Legal is an international intellectual property and business law firm. We help large and small businesses produce value for their clients. We identify, protect, and enforce the intellectual property rights of businesses, we help them navigate through government and private regulation, we help them avoid legal and non-legal risk, and, when necessary, we litigate for them in state and federal courts throughout the United States. Our clients range in size from small startups to multimillion-dollar companies, and their corporate offices are situated in places ranging from Traverse City, Michigan to Chisinau, Moldova. The sole goal, as a successful candidate, will be to produce value for those clients and keep them happy.
As a part of that goal, a successful candidate can expect to perform the following duties:
- Writing letters;
- Researching case law;
- Drafting pleadings and motions;
- Communicating with clients, courts, and other law firms through telephone and email;
- Using and interacting with company software tools; and
- Calendaring dates.
Our office relies heavily on technology, ranging from Google Apps, Mac OS X, Linux, and cloud-based software products. We use this software to maintain low overhead, provide our clients with better service, and to collect data to understand and increase our business. While a successful candidate doesn’t need to understand how to compile a Linux kernel, he or she will need to be comfortable with cutting edge technology.
Revision Legal is an incredible place to work and we are only interested in candidates who want to continue to make it that way. We believe that you should love your work and we work hard to make that happen. A successful candidate will be compensated in proportion to the value they create.
Requirements:
- 5 or more years of experience working in the legal industry;
- Excellent writing and proofreading skills; and
- A resume and writing sample.
Interested applicants should email contact@revisionlegal.com.
About Revision Legal
Revision Legal is a national intellectual property and Internet law firm headquartered in Traverse City, Michigan. Our practice concentrates in trademark law, copyright law, Internet law, e-commerce, and business litigation. We serve clients across the United States and internationally, from early-stage technology startups to established companies with complex IP portfolios.
Our work is substantive, varied, and fast-moving. On any given day, our attorneys and paralegals may be drafting trademark prosecution responses for USPTO office actions, filing copyright infringement complaints in federal court, advising clients on crowdfunding regulatory compliance, or negotiating complex IP licensing agreements. The paralegal role at Revision Legal is not a filing-and-phones position — it is a substantive legal role that demands strong analytical ability, superior writing skills, and genuine intellectual engagement with the law.
What We Value in a Paralegal Candidate
We are looking for a paralegal who takes ownership of their work. The legal industry’s traditional model of hierarchical supervision and siloed tasks does not describe how we operate. Our paralegals work directly with attorneys on client matters from intake through resolution, contributing meaningfully at every stage. This requires someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple matters simultaneously without sacrificing quality.
Excellent writing is non-negotiable. Our clients receive well-reasoned legal analysis and clearly written correspondence. Paralegal work product goes to clients and opposing counsel, and it must reflect the firm’s standards for precision and professionalism. If your writing is not clean, concise, and analytically sound, this is not the right position for you.
We also value intellectual curiosity. Intellectual property law and Internet law are constantly evolving. New decisions from the USPTO, TTAB, and federal circuit courts regularly shift the landscape, and our paralegals are expected to stay current and bring relevant developments to the attention of our attorneys. We read case law not because we are told to, but because we care about doing excellent work.
The Role of Technology at Revision Legal
Revision Legal operates as a technology-first law firm. We use cloud-based practice management software, document automation tools, and custom internal systems to streamline operations and provide clients with better service. We do not maintain a paper-heavy office environment — nearly everything we do is digital, collaborative, and designed for efficiency.
A successful candidate will need to be comfortable learning new software tools, adapting to changes in workflow systems, and occasionally troubleshooting technical issues independently. If you approach technology as an obstacle rather than an asset, this position will be frustrating. If you see it as a tool that makes excellent legal work more efficient and scalable, you will fit in well.
Compensation and Culture
Revision Legal believes in paying people what they are worth. We compensate paralegals based on the value they create for clients and the firm — not on tenure, credential inflation, or the size of our real estate footprint. We do not have a large office to maintain, which means the resources that would otherwise go to overhead go to the people doing the work.
We also believe you should enjoy your work. The legal profession has a well-documented culture problem when it comes to attorney and staff well-being. We take that seriously, and we work to build a firm environment where people are challenged, respected, and genuinely engaged in what they do. We are not perfect, but we are committed to being better.
How to Apply
If you are interested in joining the Revision Legal team, please send a resume and writing sample to contact@revisionlegal.com. We review every application and respond to qualified candidates. We look forward to hearing from you.

Our attorneys advise and represent clients across a broad range of practice areas that define the legal landscape for online businesses and digital content creators. Attorneys who join our team have the opportunity to develop expertise and build a practice in the following areas:
Trademark Law
We handle trademark prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including applications, office action responses, inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and renewals. On the enforcement side, we send cease-and-desist letters, pursue UDRP domain disputes, and litigate trademark infringement and dilution claims in federal court.
Copyright Law
Our copyright practice covers registration counseling, DMCA takedown notices and counter-notices, licensing agreements, and both plaintiff and defense representation in copyright infringement litigation. We have handled mass BitTorrent litigation defense, software copyright disputes, and infringement cases involving photographs, music, video, and written content.
Privacy and Data Security
We advise online businesses on compliance with federal and state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and the CAN-SPAM Act. We draft privacy policies, terms of service, and data processing agreements, and we counsel clients on data breach response and notification obligations.
E-Commerce and Online Business Law
We assist clients with the legal infrastructure needed to operate an online business, including website terms of service, marketplace seller agreements, subscription contract terms, payment processing agreements, and affiliate and influencer marketing arrangements. We also handle disputes with platforms like Amazon, eBay, and Etsy, including account suspension appeals and reinstatement proceedings.
Domain Name and Online Reputation
Our attorneys handle domain name disputes under the UDRP and the ACPA, domain theft and recovery matters, and online defamation cases. We work with clients to identify and pursue sources of defamatory content published on websites, review platforms, and social media, and we advise on strategies for managing and protecting online reputation.
If you are a lawyer with a strong interest in internet law and intellectual property, and you want to build a practice in a firm that takes these areas seriously, we encourage you to apply. Revision Legal is a place where motivated attorneys can do meaningful work for clients who depend on the internet to build their businesses and livelihoods.
